the principles we follow.
From the very first years of a child's education, we follow the principles of Montessori teaching and learning. This means that at our school, we embrace the following core values:
- Every child is an individual influenced by his or her environment, thus we provide a harmonious atmosphere and an environment which allows our children to work and interact with others in a mixed age group.
- Scientific, hands-on teaching materials help a child to develop his or her potential: to refine the senses, to develop language, to understand mathematics, to explore the laws of nature. This results in a well-balanced individual.
- We believe in each child’s creative potential, the drive to learn, and the right to be treated and respected as an individual. This will lead to becoming a peaceful human being.
MARIA MONTESSORI.
Dr. Maria Montessori (1870-1952) was the first woman to qualify as a medical doctor in unified Italy. As a result of her work in the medical field, she became concerned about the young child and began her lifelong study and observation of children, recording their behaviors, needs, and interests. Her scientific research led to the development of a child-centered approach to education. Her philosophy of education is based on the developmental stages of the child. Maria Montessori designed a prepared environment and educational apparatus to meet the progressive needs of the developing child.
